Ginny is experiencing a changing world in “her woods.” Depicting the subtle changes and growth of early spring, tween Ginny shares writing and artwork of the refuge she finds not far from her home. She tries to really see who and what is present there. She speaks of the versatility of her environment, where she finds everything from sport to fun, food, peace and rest. Influenced by walks with her father in the woods at a young age, where he would speak about what he knew and cared for, Ginny shares knowledge both cherished and useful. Readers will learn about a variety of subjects from tracking footprints in snow to learning to identify different birds, flowers and ferns. She speaks of varied habitats: the brook, marsh, woods and meadows with the flora and fauna seen existing in their own space..
